Vacation Bible School: What will the Lord do this year?

About six years ago, sitting in a family's home in North Georgia, the leadership of New City Fellowship in East Lake had a vision for a Vacation Bible School that would include the whole family. This was our chance to invite people from our community to come inside our doors and join us in fellowship, dinner, worship and Bible study. We weren't sure anyone would respond, but they did. Unexpectedly a youth group and a Latino small group were born out of that VBS.

The Lord has continued to bless us with a successful VBS program every year since then. This could not happen without your help!

VBS at New City East Lake is a wonderful picture of the body of Christ at work. Our congregation is full of talented and gifted people. We need you and your gift! We can't do it without you. Even if you can only participate one or two nights we need you there! We will need teachers, encouragers, cooks, mentors, singers, actors, workers, moppers, ect.

We are excited about the planning that has taken place for this year's VBS. Our theme for the week is "Hide and Seek" with theme verses coming from Luke 19:10 and also Psalm 139. The focus is on how fervently the Lord pursues His people.

We already have lead teachers lined up, but we need adults to help with crowd control and most importantly building relationships with the children.  We have a few of you have offered to help with the youth, but we need more. Eunice Mendoza is heading up the adult portion of VBS and would love to have adults from our congregation participating and interacting with those from our community.

We will kick off the week with a neighborhood cookout on Monday, August 1st. We need a team of people willing to help with all aspects of that evening. The cookout will be advertised in the neighborhood and will include bounce houses for the kids and a live petting zoo.  We want EVERYONE to attend the cookout because this is an opportunity to meet our neighbors.

We need more people to help with dinner each night. This would include set up, preparation, serving, and cleanup.  What a beautiful way to serve our community.

We need a snack crew and a recreation crew for each evening.

We will have three separate occasions to be in the neighborhood inviting people to the cookout and to VBS.  Those dates will be posted soon.

Registration has already begun and will continue again next week.

Please let us know if you have any questions.  We are excited to see what the Lord does this year.  Pray that He would go before us and that we would walk in love as we serve the neighborhood with a week of food, fun and the good news of Jesus Christ.
